Indiadances offers a range of dance styles from classical Kathak to Bollywood, Filmy, Bhangra and Wedding dances. All age groups and levels are welcome.

Dance is found among all man-kind, whether in primitive or advanced societies. Indian dancing, even in its classical styles is one of the most ancient and dynamic forms still surviving. It has of course altered, but its basic elements would appear to be much as they were over two thousand years ago.

The art of mediaval India was dominated by the Krishna theme and ledends about him became a permanent and prominent feature of the Kathak repertoire.

From the Natya Shastra, a text on the arts, this beautiful quotation and translation was often quoted by Chitresh Das:
"Yato hasta stato drishti"..."Where the hand is, the eyes follow"
"Yato drishti stato manaha"..."Where the eyes go, the mind follows"
"Yato manaha stato bhava"..."Where the mind is, there is the feeling"
"Yato bhava stato rasa"..."Where the feeling is, there is mood"

Appreciation of Indian and Classical dance, cinema and its culture is rapidly growing across the globe.
Increasingly, both traditional and modern Indian songs and Ghazals are played all over the world.

There are three main 'gharanas' or schools of Kathak. These schools are named according to the geographical area in which they are developed. These are the Jaipur, Lucknow, and the Benares 'gharanas'. Each has a slight difference in interpretation and repetoire.
